As a public charter school, Mountain City Public Montessori is free for all students to attend. There are no tuition costs or application fees. Interested in preschool on the MCPM campus?  PreK enrollment is through our partner program, Little Grove Preschool. 

How to apply

Open Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year runs from January 1st through March 31st. The lottery will take place in April of 2024 using a random lottery to determine student admission, and establish the order of entry on a waiting list. Applications that are submitted after the March 31 deadline will be added to the end of the waiting list in the order that they are received. Tours and Info Sessions

You may sign up for an in-person tour (space is limited), a virtual info-session, or an open house event on the Events page of our website. Enrollment events will be held throughout the months of January, February, and March.

The MCPM Board of Directors believes in removing barriers for economically disadvantaged students, which include subgroups that might be under-resourced in comparison to community members who are not economically disadvantaged. Research has proven that the Montessori model reduces the achievement gap. We additionally believe, and research supports, that diversity makes a learning community better for everyone, and MCPM seeks this diversity because of the academic, social, and community benefits for all of our students.

As part of our commitment to being a diverse school community, we will implement a weighted lottery. Students who meet the income guidelines for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch program may be enrolled in the weighted lottery. Additionally, in order to address the Federal Desegregation order for the Asheville City School district, families may enter a weighted lottery if they identify as a racial minority. These weighted lotteries are optional for eligible families.

Students are eligible for kindergarten if they turn 5 years old by August 31, 2024.
