Bus Driver (24-25 school year)

Mountain City Public Montessori is a tuition-free public Montessori Charter school. Mountain City Public Montessori seeking a reliable and experienced School Bus Driver to transport students to and from school. The School Bus Driver will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students, following all traffic and safety regulations. The School Bus Driver must be patient, have excellent driving skills, and be able to manage a large group of children. This part time position is 15-20 hours/week with a salary of $21/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a school bus safely and efficiently to transport students to and from school, field trips, and other activities.
  • Ensure all students are properly seated while the bus is in motion.
  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations, including obeying traffic laws and signs, and driving within the speed limit.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment on the bus, reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the bus to ensure it is in good working condition, and report any issues.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other school staff, including maintaining discipline on the bus.
  • Attend regular training sessions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol test and background check.
  • Must have at least two years of driving experience.
  • Must have excellent driving skills, including the ability to maneuver a large vehicle in tight spaces.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to manage a large group of children.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
  • Must have a strong commitment to safety and a passion for working with children.

Additional information:

Will cover all training costs for interested candidates
School year runs August 21 – June 1
Hours are 6:45am – 7:50am Monday through Friday, 2:30pm – 4:15pm Monday through Thursday, and 12:30-2:00pm Friday.
Some additional hours during the school day are available for field trips and special events
We have an easy-to-drive mini school bus that seats 22 students
