Theater Arts Teacher K-6
Position Title: K-6 Theater Arts Teacher (Part-Time)
Mountain City Public Montessori is a tuition-free public Montessori Charter school for children in grades kindergarten through 6th grade in Asheville, North Carolina. We will grow in years two and three to add an Adolescent program. Our mission is to provide equitable access to a high-quality, relevant Montessori education to meet the needs of all students and to strengthen our community. Position Description/Duties:
- Plan and teach K-6 theater arts classes
- Identify and utilize theater arts instruction & curriculum
- Familiarity with NC Theater Arts Standards to support and guide the planning of theater arts instruction
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with children
- Subject area knowledge in Theater Arts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or equivalent
- Experience teaching Theater Arts in a classroom setting
- Philosophy that aligns with Montessori educational pedagogy
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience in working with/promoting a diverse environment
Hours:
Part time, 6 hours per week, 10 months
The Theater Arts teacher provides three 45 minute classes two days per week. (3 hours per day x 2 days)
Wages/Salary: $33/hour
