Music Teacher (K-6)
Position Title: K-6 Music Teacher (Part-Time)
Mountain City Public Montessori is a tuition-free public Montessori Charter school for children in grades kindergarten through 6th grade in Asheville, North Carolina. We will grow in years two and three to add an Adolescent program. Our mission is to provide equitable access to a high-quality, relevant Montessori education to meet the needs of all students and to strengthen our community. Position Description/Duties:
- Plan and teach K-6 music classes
- Identify and utilize Music instruction & curriculum
- Familiarity with NC Music Standards to support and guide the planning of Music instruction
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with children
- Subject area knowledge in Music
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or equivalent
- Experience teaching Music in a classroom setting
- Experience that aligns with Montessori educational philosophy/pedagogy
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience in working with/promoting a diverse environment
Hours:
Part time, 6 hours per week, 10 months
The music teacher provides three 45 minute classes two days per week. (3 hours per day x 2 days)
Wages/Salary: $33/hour
