Montessori Teaching and Learning Coordinator (26-27 school year)

Position Overview

The Montessori Teaching & Learning Coordinator supports the strength and fidelity of the school’s Montessori and standards-aligned instructional program. This role partners closely with the Education Director and teaching staff to ensure that curriculum, instruction, and assessment reflect both Montessori pedagogy and North Carolina academic standards.

Serving as an instructional coach and facilitator, the Coordinator works alongside educators through observation, collaboration, and professional learning to support continuous growth in practice. This role also helps guide schoolwide instructional systems, including MTSS and assessment processes, to ensure all students receive responsive and effective support.

This position is centered on supporting educators and strengthening the integration of Montessori philosophy within a public school setting.

Works closely with: Lead Guides, Assistant Guides, Student Support Director, MTSS team

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Coaching & Montessori Practice

  • Support consistent, high-quality implementation of Montessori pedagogy
  • Provide coaching, observation, and feedback to support educator growth
  • Partner with educators to strengthen lesson design, classroom practice, and student engagement

Curriculum & Program Alignment

  • Support the development and ongoing refinement of standards-aligned curriculum
  • Help educators align Montessori materials and lessons with academic standards
  • Promote coherence across classrooms and program levels

Professional Learning

  • Design and facilitate Montessori-focused professional development
  • Support ongoing educator learning through collaboration and reflection
  • Provide coaching support in partnership with the Education Director when additional support is needed

MTSS & Instructional Systems

  • Coordinate MTSS processes related to academic interventions
  • Facilitate data review and collaborative problem-solving meetings
  • Support educators in identifying and implementing effective interventions
  • Partner with the Student Support Director to align academic and student support systems

Assessment & Testing Coordination

  • Serve as the school’s Testing Coordinator
  • Manage logistics for state and schoolwide assessments
  • Support educators in understanding and using assessment data

Collaboration & Community

  • Facilitate collaborative planning and shared learning among educators
  • Support family understanding of Montessori learning and student progress
  • Partner with staff to strengthen family engagement in the learning process

Qualifications

Required

  • Montessori teaching credential (AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited)
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Montessori lead guide
  • Strong understanding of Montessori pedagogy and philosophy
  • Experience supporting or coaching adult learners
  • Familiarity with curriculum alignment, assessment, and MTSS processes
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • Experience in a public Montessori setting
  • Experience facilitating professional development or instructional systems

Compensation

To be determined based on years of experience. Salary will be in alignment with our teacher salary schedule.
